An HONEST review of Pictory AI… is it nifty or a fraud?
Is it really what the affiliates say it is?

You’ve heard of Pictory AI, the legendary AI powered video maker. It can turn any article or script into a video, without much effort from you.
But is it actually as nifty as it sounds?
So today, I will breaking down every aspect of Pictory, to give you an honest and affiliate free review.
Interface
When I access Pictory AI, here is the dashboard:
What do you think?
Personally, the interface of the product always changes the way that I look at it.
I think Pictory got a rookie UX designer.
Pros:
‘Recommended for’ lists
Easy to understand what to do
Demo videos displayed
Pleasant yet catchy colours
Cons:
CONSTANT glitching. All the bits of the interface keep moving up and down. Yet my internet bars are full.
Very cramped. Everything is a bit too… close together.
Icons? They’re a bit misplaced (or it’s just the continuous glitch that occurs on no other websites)
Blurry logo. The octopus has suffered the fate of the blur, and so has the waving hand
Pictory has obviously not outdone itself. I’ll give it a 5/10 on the interface.

But honestly. I’m sure it could have done much better. Make the boxes bigger. Remove the massive white square at the back. Spaced everything out…
Functionality
The majority is from the actual functions of the platform.
Has Pictory finally outdone itself when it comes to the tools and their quality?
Script to Video
It’s seems easy. You prepare a script. Type it in. Choose a template:
BAAM
You must take part in the following: Adding proper images (pictory most certainly makes some terrible stock video choices) and removing the jolly music (Hey, lalala, Hey)
More developed AI tools such as ChatGPT are capable with identifying the mood of the text overall. Sadly, Pictory is trudging along behind.
Oh. I’ve been waiting for around 30 minutes for my one sentence script to load (still 0%)
My internet is still on full bars, if you’re curious.
After around 50 mins wait time, I received this notification:
Couldn’t have they warned me at the beginning? Like GPT-4?
I mean honestly. I racked my brain for 50 minutes, thinking why on earth did it not load!
It’s obvious I would have received a horrid video, anyway. After trying the article to video (read later on), the platform is obviously a mass murderer.
Article to Video
Upon creation, Pictory allows you to paste in the link of your article, to create ‘an outstanding video, perfect for social media’
Perfect for personal use?
Basically, I used the tool to make a video out of my article Why Getting ‘100 Followers in 24 Hours’ Is a Fraud.
AI was supposed to extract all the key points out of my article. I thought to myself, WOW! How cool could this get?
That was essentially before I played the video.
Let’s just make something clear.
Those are OBVIOUSLY NOT the key points in my 5 minute read.
I mention a whole lot more in my article, that is actually USEFUL.
I swear. This is the video raw, without me making any tweaks to continue my campaign as a hater of Pictory.
So the platform is clearly not a good summariser.
Is it just me, or is the quality bad?
The last 6 second are devoted to the little octopus logo. Cute? Maybe. Good for social media? Not so much.
As you can see from my insightful critique, this tool is a no no
Edit Videos Using Text
Hope this was worth mentioning. Considering the fact it doesn’t even work
Whenever I make an attempt to give a YouTube link, it just does this:
The funniest thing is, the video I tried to upload is none of the things that Pictory suggested was wrong.

I honestly don’t get the point of the tens of tags I was adding to the video?
Was that a waste of time?
In my opinion, this function is… useless. You can just paste in images in the same amount of time on a normal, perfectly free editor.
To the Pictory Team: I’m sorry for my criticism. But it is an HONEST review. I respect how hard you worked and your fantastic idea of turning text into videos with the help of AI. Hope my feedback is helpful to you :)
To affiliates of Pictory:
Stop lying. Pictory is not a dream come true
Overall. Pictory is just a promoted tool. There is nothing amazing about it and the quality could certainly be improved. Just another case of ‘good idea, bad action’
